Our Restaurant
The Restaurant
The biggest room of our restaurant is in what used to be the old barn and the two smaller rooms were the country house kitchen. The fireplaces create a cozy and friendly atmosphere during the cold months.
The owner Marisa Raggi welcomes the guests with open arms and does her best to make them feel at ease, offering you a seasonal menu, based on the fresh produce of the area.
The Kitchen
In the kitchen you’ll find the men of the Cameli family: Giovanni with his two sons, Massimiliano and Matteo.
At “Al Vecchio convento” our offer of genuine flavours starts with a rich and varied breakfast buffet: fresh and hard cheeses, salami and local ham, fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh squeezed juices, cakes and last but not least, our bread; everything is home made, everyday. Gem, honey, yogurt, organic cereals, and… not to forget: tea and espresso coffee.
Furthermore, from Spring to Autumn, the hotel’s vegetable garden provides organic, high-quality ingredients.
The chefs organize cooking classes with different themes, such as pasta, meat, vegetables, bread, pastry and desserts.
The Chefs
“In our way of cooking, you can find the spirit that gives life to the rest of the house: A mix of tradition and innovation. My personal philosophy is that the food has to be healthy with a huge respect for the territory, the season and quality. And then it has to taste good!”
Giovanni
“We like using the produces of which our territory is so prosperous; like porcini, truffles, wild game, aromatic herbs and forrest fruits.”
Matteo
“We try to revisit recipes of Romagna with simplicity and fantasy.”
Massimiliano
The Wine Cellar
Massimiliano is the restaurant sommelier and he will happily recommend you the best wine to go with the menu you’re having. We have around 150 wine labels in our wine cellar, and though covering the entire national territory, priority is given to the best wines from our territory, Romagna and Tuscany.
Over the last few years Romagna has reached outstanding results in the wine field, most of all with Sangiovese di Romagna, Albana Passita, Pignoletto and the wide spread Cabernet Sauvignon.
For the hotel customers we often organize visits to local wine cellars and olive oil producers, including wine and olive oil tasting, as well as an intro to the typical products of the Region of Emilia-Romagna.
